Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jason Rainey and it is my pleasure to be the new Spanish and band teacher at Greer Middle College Charter High School. Previously I taught ESOL at several different schools in Greenville County for seven years, Spanish at Blue Ridge High School for ten years, Spanish at Berea Middle, and before that I was the Assistant Band Director at Blue Ridge Middle and High School. This is my seventeenth full year in education. I have a BA in Music Education from North Greenville College, along with 18 hours of Spanish instruction. I have also continued my Spanish studies at Furman University. I graduated from Furman University with a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. I am certified in Spanish, Music Education, and English as a Second Language. The bulk of my Spanish has been learned through multiple mission trips to Nicaragua, the immersion language school in Nicaragua, and through some very close Latino friends that I have in the Greer area. The Spanish language and its people have a special place in my heart as I have led many mission trips to Nicaragua, and as I am very much involved with the Latino community here in Greer. I am the associate worship pastor at His Vineyard in Greer and serve as an interpreter when needed on Sundays. I have also been to Mexico twice to serve as an interpreter for mission teams. I have also traveled to Ecuador and Puerto Rico. Traveling is a wonderful experience when I can afford it! I am married to the most wonderful female on the face of the planet. We have two wonderful children who I love with all my heart: Moises, 20, and Maribella, 18. Moises is a 2021 graduate of GMC and Mari is a Senior at Chapman High School. I am so proud to be their father! My wife is a teacher at Mabry Middle School.
