Mr. Armstrong is entering his 24th year of education.  A 1988 graduate of Laurens District 55 High School, Armstrong followed his mother’s footsteps and graduated with a degree in physical education from Lander College in 1992.  He went to Crescent High School (Anderson 3) in 1994 to teach physical education and coach basketball. In 1998, Armstrong earned a Master’s degree in Sport Management through the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama. In 2001, Armstrong added certification as a principal through Clemson University and added certification as a superintendent through University of Houston-Victoria in 2010.  As a strong believer in life-long learning, Armstrong is in his 8th semester of earning a doctorate in curriculum and instruction through the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a completion goal of Spring 2017.  Armstrong stated, “I am grateful and honored to be a part of such a great school.  Our students and teachers are a wonderful example of what can done with high expectations and strong parent/guardian involvement.”

Mr. James Dillard, is a veteran educator with 21 years in various administrative, teaching and coaching roles. He has earned a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Dillard holds South Carolina certificates for Superintendent, Secondary Principal, and Secondary Supervisor and is highly qualified in Mathematics. The 2016-2017 school year will be his ninth year as an assistant principal; the third in that role at GMC.

Shelly Bishop

Bishop Mrs. Bishop teaches Business Electives and is beginning her 13th year as a teacher and her 6th year at GMC.  She has a BBA in Marketing from Texas A&M University and a M. Ed. from Anderson University. Mrs. Bishop worked in corporate America for 18 years before making the transition to education and earning her certification through PACE.  She will be teaching Advertising, Business principles and Management, Marketing, Service Learning, and Senior Project Internship.  She loves to use real-life stories and examples to prepare her students for the REAL WORLD!

Mr. Cook hails from several regions of South Carolina. He grew up on the ocean in Beaufort, got very, very hot in Columbia, and graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton. After his years as an undergraduate, where he majored in Creative Writing, Film Studies, and English, he got married and moved to Spartanburg, where he completed an MAT program at Converse College. Between his undergraduate and graduate degrees, Mr. Cook spent a few years working on movie and television sets, ending up on the set of the first Hunger Games film as well as the set of Homeland. Mr. Cook recently wrote, directed, produced, and edited a feature film, and his short stories have been published in national literary journals.
However, while he enjoys the arts, Mr. Cook most loves teaching literature. From the totally bonkers plots of The Canterbury Tales to the odd family trees of William Faulkner, Mr. Cook is obsessed with the English language’s amazing breadth of literature.
This year, Mr. Cook will be teaching American Literature and producing the Yearbook with a dedicated team of students. This is his second year at GMC.

XJcx-dbF Coach Davis is entering his second year of teaching and is teaching Spanish. He’s from Eastern North Carolina and graduated from Bob Jones University in 2014 with a BS in Spanish Education. He also played basketball for their inter-collegiate team and is an avid sports fan. He’s visited Peru twice, loves the Spanish language, and is excited about teaching it at Greer Middle College

Mrs. Davis is entering her third year of teaching and her first year at GMC.  Mrs. Davis graduated from Bob Jones University with a bachelor’s degree in Science Education, and she is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Biological Sciences from Clemson. This year, she will be teaching Physical Science, Biology, and Human Anatomy and Physiology.

Her educational background includes a BS in Therapeutic Recreation from Clemson University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Carolina. She is also the co-sponsor of Beta Club.

Mr. Frans is entering his 6th year of teaching Math and 1st year at GMC. He previously taught at Hillcrest High School and Riverside High School. He has an undergraduate degree from Bob Jones University and a Masters from Converse College.  His wife is also a teacher at Brushy Creek Elementary School, and they have two boys ages 9 and 3.  He enjoys hiking with his family, working with the teens in our church youth group, and running.

Ms. Gault teaches in Educational Support. She taught English as a Second Language for two years in Japan and taught Special Education in Spartanburg from 2006 to 2015. Ms. Gault graduated with a degree in Law Enforcement from Appalachian State University and holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Converse College. She is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a former parole officer.

Ms. González has taught for nineteen years and thirteen of those in Greenville, South Carolina. She holds her Bachelor’s degree from Universidad de Playa Ancha, Valparaíso, Chile and her Master’s in Education from Anderson University, South Carolina. She is teaching Spanish 2 this school year and this is her eighth year at GMC.

Mrs. Hunter is in her 10th year teaching.  She taught her first 9 years in Greenville County and is thrilled to be a GMC Blazer this year!  She has her bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in Secondary Education: Mathematics and her master’s from Arkansas state University in Educational Leadership.  In addition to her love of teaching math, she also enjoys traveling whenever she gets the chance.

This is my fifth year as a school counselor. I am originally from Pickens, SC and attended Pickens High School. I graduated from USC Upstate in 2009 with a BS in Psychology and from Clemson in 2012 with my Masters in school Counseling. I worked as a school counselor for three years at Wade Hampton High School in Varnville, SC. I am excited start my second year at Greer Middle College.

Mr. Lowman is originally from York, South Carolina (about 45 minutes below Charlotte, NC). He graduated from York Comprehensive High School in 2003, from Presbyterian College in 2007, and from Converse College in 2009. He has a BA (English major/Art History minor) and an MAT in Secondary English.  He has been teaching since 2010.

Vickie McCammon is a veteran teacher and counselor with 40 years in education.  She has taught mathematics at the elementary, middle and high school levels.  Her last fifteen years have been in guidance where she has worked at JL Mann, Eastside and Brashier Middle College Charter.  She knows the charter school system and Early College model well and is thrilled to be at Greer.  She really likes working with juniors and seniors to help them find the colleges that “fit” them best and to get all students to focus on their future goals.  Vickie has a Bachelor of Arts from Furman University and a Master of Education in Counseling from Clemson University.  She has been blessed with two wonderful, loving sons.  Both are Clemson graduates, so orange is a popular color at her house!  She is big on DIY and did all the finish work in her mountain house near here.  When not working at school or on a project, she loves reading, camping and traveling.

keith mccaskill face Mr. McCaskill is teaching Physical Science and Physics. He received an A.A. from Spartanburg Methodist, B.S. in Science Education from Clemson University, Master in Science Education from Clemson and +30 from various universities in the Upstate. Before coming to GMC in 2010, Mr. McCaskill taught at Greer Middle for 8 years, Hillcrest High for 10 years and Riverside High for 16 years. Mr. McCaskill is certified to teach all science courses.

Mrs. Moore is one of our mentor teachers. She is also our technology teacher and is an assistant BETA Club Sponsor.  She holds an AOS in Accounting from Utica School of Commerce Utica/Rome, a BPS in Management/Accounting from SUNY College of Technology Utica/Rome and a Masters +30 from SUNY at Oswego College and Converse College in Business Education. She has been a teacher for 20 years–13 at Pickens Middle School and the last 7 at GMC. Mrs. Moore teaches Computer Applications and Desktop Publishing.

Mrs. Rouse teaches English II and Teacher Cadet. She has a Bachelors of Arts degree in English from Clemson University and a Masters in Education from Converse College. She is also a National Board Certified teacher. Mrs. Rouse, her husband, and their three sons live in the Taylors community. This is Mrs. Rouse’s 16th year in education, and she is passionate about teaching and working with young people. Prior to GMC, she taught at her Alma Mater, Blue Ridge High.

Coach Smith has been a teacher and coach in Greenville County for 23 years. This is his sixth year at GMC.

Mrs. Stone has been teaching for over 35 years.  She graduated from Clemson University with both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Education degree.  Certified in South Carolina as a guidance counselor, school psychologist, online teaching, and special education, she will be teaching students in Educational Support.  Mrs. Stone is looking forward to being a Blazer!

This is Mr. Stone’s sixth year teaching and he is excited to be at Greer Middle College. He is a graduate of Furman University, where he studied History and Ancient Greek Language and Literature. He attended graduate school at Converse, where he received a Masters of Arts in Teaching. His wife (who also teaches high school social studies) and he live in Greenville with their twin boys, Will and John, and daughter, Emily. He teaches World cultures, serves as the Chairman of the Senior Project Committee, and is a mentor teacher through TAP here at GMC.

Miss Teel is from Anderson, SC, and graduated from Bob Jones University in 2014. Her degree in Composite Science Education enables her to teach all sciences. For her first year at GMC, she will be teaching Chemistry, which is her favorite science. She has taught in Georgia for the last two years and is excited to be back in South Carolina! She enjoys traveling and recently went on a medical missions trip to Honduras with MMO (Medical Missions Outreach).

Heather face Heather Timanus is the Development Director at Greer Middle College. She oversees the communications, fund development, and enrollment for the school. She earned a B.S. Degree from Clemson University in Business Management in 2007. Before coming to Greer Middle College, she worked in fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and as the Executive Director for Greenville Area Parkinson Society.
