Boys Golf

Three key attributes we seek to develop through golf:

Teamwork: While you may play the game of golf as an individual, you will compete as a team.  Being part of a team requires you to think beyond what will benefit yourself as an individual to think about what can I do to benefit the team as a group.  There must be a commitment to working with others for the improvement of the team.

Leadership: Good leaders provide direction through their words and by their actions.  They are able to communicate their thoughts in a positive manner that motivates others to action, and they lead by example inspiring others to follow.  Good leaders also demonstrate integrity.  It is said that the true test of a man’s character is not how he acts when people are watching, but how he acts when no one is watching.  The game of golf seeks to develop leaders who will conduct themselves with integrity even when no one is watching.

Relationship-building: Being part of a sports team is a great way to meet new people and to learn how to develop relationships with people who are not like you.  The importance of communication skills is emphasized for the growth of these relationships.  You learn to find joy in the successes of others and to sympathize with their defeats.  You learn to balance the workload of school, golf, work, and other activities.
