Enrollment Lottery
As per state law, an enrollment lottery will be held whenever there are more applicants than available spaces. Preference status will be given to siblings of GMC students (past and present) and children of Greer Middle College employees not to exceed twenty percent of the enrollment. APPLICANTS IN THE PREFERENCE CATEGORY MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION DURING THE OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD. The number of accepted students in the preference category will be deducted from the available 100 spaces, to give us our final number of students we can accept.
The Lottery will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 3:30pm in the school cafeteria. All applicants will be assigned an applicant number; numbers will be scrambled and posted. The results will be disclosed at the lottery and posted on the GMC web site promptly. After the lottery process is complete, students will receive written notification of acceptance for the upcoming school term. Students will also be notified if they are placed on a waiting list and of their position on the waiting list. Selected applicants must affirmatively respond in writing to the offer of acceptance within 15 days of notification. Selected applicants will be required to complete an Enrollment Packet.

A: No – the lottery is completely random. As long as you turn in your application by Feb. 3 at 3:30pm, you are entered into the lottery. The open enrollment window is simply to give people enough time to apply.
Do we have to be present at the lottery to accept a space if we are selected?
A: No. We will notify you of the results.
What do we do if we are selected in the lottery?
A: The acceptance letter and enrollment packet must be returned within 15 days of notification to be enrolled at GMC. After the student is enrolled, they will be contacted for a New Student Interview.
