The time for 2012-2013 registration time is here!
On Thursday, February 24 at two sessions 6:00PM and 7:30PM at Praise Cathedral, our faculty will give information about the registration process and course selection. Representatives from each department will discuss core subject offerings and elective options. I have included a copy of the 2012-2013 Curriculum Guide as well as a sample copy of the registration card with contact information for teachers. Please review these course descriptions with your student. I look forward to seeing you at Curriculum Night.

GMC welcomes the Freshmen Class of 2012-2013! We look forward to meeting each of you at the Family Intake Conferences on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Please complete the Enrollment Packet (download below) and bring the completed forms on March 3^rd.   You will also need to bring a copy (copy only, please — no originals) of the student’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization record and last report card.  If you have any questions, contact the school office at 864-469-7571.

Those who were not selected in the Lottery: We will contact you as soon as space becomes available in this class. This may happen very quickly or may be after school has begun in the fall. Your name will remain on the list until you tell us otherwise.

Alison Peterson received the most votes and has been elected to the GMC Board of Directors.  We thank both candidates for running in this special election.  Parents…. thank you for voting!  You receive a service hour for voting — please note it on your Parent Service Hour form.

On Friday, in tribute to Super Bowl XLVI, students can dress down in their favorite team’s attire, including: jerseys, shirts, hoodies, jackets, hats (except inside of course), and possibly pants. All NFL teams are welcome, not just the Super Bowl teams.

The price will be $2 for a jersey/hoodie and $5 for both the jersey/hoodie and jeans. There is NO option for just jeans. All of the proceeds will go towards the Junior class fund (prom).

Spring Sports Parent Information Meeting:

Parents of any student planning the participate in an upcoming spring sport should attend the information meeting that will be held January 30th, 6:00pm in the Cafeteria.  Attendance by at least one parent is highly encouraged.

Spirit Week Passes are on sale until Thursday, January 19th. Passes are $10 for just dress down days and $15 for dress down days and 1 blazer basketball game (Home game on Thursday ONLY). Dress down days are as follows: Monday-Pajama Day, Tuesday-Twin Day, Wednesday-Tacky day, Thursday-Hillbilly Day, and Friday-Blazer Pride Day. You must have a pass prior to the 23rd to participate in dress down days. Please see a student government representative to purchase your Spirit Week Pass.

Next week will begin the Penny War Competition to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During lunch compete with the other classes to raise the most money. The class with the most money raised will receive the GMC Spirit Stick as well as a free dress down day! See a student government rep during lunch January 23rd-27th to support your class and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

Open Enrollment begins today, January 3, 2012, for incoming freshmen students for our 2012-2013 school year.  All students, including siblings of current students, must apply during the open enrollment period to be included in the lottery on February 9.  Applications for all other grades are taken any time.  See web site under “Application and Enrollment” for further information or by CLICKING HERE.

Do you like to help others? Would you like to earn academic credit while volunteering off campus?  Service Learning is a unique opportunity available to juniors and seniors.  Applications for 2012-2013 are available from Mrs. Bishop beginning Monday, Jan 9.  Completed applications are due Friday, Jan 20.  Students will be selected for the Service Learning class based on a written application, three teacher recommendations and an interview.  Attendance, tardy and discipline records are also reviewed.  Additional information can be found on Mrs. Bishop’s website.
