Welcome to Global Studies 2 and Geography in Cinema! I am so excited to be teaching these two great courses this semester. I arrived at GMC in mid-November of 2011 and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere, students, parents, and other faculty/staff. I believe that GMC is an awesome place to learn and grow as both a student and a teacher.
I am a Greenville native who attended Berea High School and then Appalachian State University, where I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in History, Secondary Education. I became interested in history in the 3rd grade because of an elementary school teacher who made it very interesting. But, my decision to teach was solidified in my AP US History class in high school by an amazing teacher who made history seem alive. After finishing college, I started out teaching 3rd grade and moved quickly into 7th grade. But, my desire to teach high school material had me branching out to teach high school by the beginning of my 2nd year in education. This school year marks my fourteenth year in education. I have taught for a total of 11 years and worked for 3 years as the Graduation Coach at Greenville Senior High Academy. At this point in my life, there is nothing else I would rather be doing for a career than teaching.
I am married to a wonderful man. My oldest son is 4 years old and his name is Ford. My youngest son is 1 year old and his name is Liam. We have one pet, a dachshund, named Lincoln. The only roles I love more than teaching are being a wife and mother!
