Teacher Bio
I’m from New Orleans originally. As a proud native, I went to Louisiana State University and earned a B.S. in Ecology with the hopes that I could one day save the world, or at least a handful of endangered species. My plans changed suddenly when Katrina blew through my home during my senior year at LSU.
For the next two and a half years, I camped out in Greenville and began my Masters of Teaching English at Converse College. Literature has always been a passion of mine, and again, my desire was to change the world. I believe that literature helps us understand the world and ourselves. Kafka wrote that “A book should serve as the ax for the frozen sea within us.” I hope that as a guide and model of this belief, I can introduce students to a deeper love of life and literature.
Another little tid bit, my favorite books are The Brothers Karamozov and The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Holy the Firm by Annie Dillard, Into the Wild Jon Krakauer, and Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, and my favorite word is “sure” or “shore” because it’s fun to say. My commitment to my students is to always treat them with respect while encouraging them to push themselves by thinking deeply and working diligently, so they can reach their full potential and go on to influence our world in a positive way.
