GMC is once again participating in this year’s BMW Pro-Am. Click here for instructions on how to register and here for the 2011 application.
About the Tournament
The 2011 BMW Charity Pro-Am tournament will be played May 19-22, at Bright’s Creek Golf Club, The Carolina Country Club and Thornblade Club golf courses. The tournament is a four-day competition over three courses. Amateurs, celebrities and pros rotate between three courses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the 14 lowest scoring pro-amateur/pro-celebrity teams advancing to play Sunday’s final round at Thornblade Club.
GMCCHS was selected as only one of 26 charities to benefit from the 2011 tournament.
Each charity will have the opportunity to raise funds for their organization by participating in tournament-sponsored programs including ticket sales and by having individuals volunteer on behalf of their charity.
Charities will receive 100 percent of the proceeds for selling General Admission tickets to the tournament, which are good all four days of the event and cost $25. They will also receive $25 from each $50 Clubhouse ticket sold.
Charities are also encouraged to recruit as many volunteers as possible. Participating organizations will retain the $40 uniform package fee for each of their volunteers who sign up and work a minimum of two shifts during the tournament.
Volunteering

Last year, GMCCHS marshaled the Number 17 hole at the Thornblade Club golf course. We were responsible for controlling the crowds for the Number 17 hole for all four days. The signage at the tee box had the school’s name on it.
The event had for GMCCHS three advantages:
1 – Exposure for the school. 57,000 people attended last year’s BMW Charity Pro Am.
2 – A fundraiser (we raised over $2000 for the school) and
3 – Service hours for the students and parents (for the school). It was also a lot of fun. The students (and parents) were complemented about how well they behaved and how mature they were.
If you are interested in volunteering for a minimum of two days during the tournament, we have a link to step-by-step instructions for registering. Click here for instructions on how to register
